TrendBoard - Sashiko Embroidery

How lovely is this?? Sashiko embroidery is a Japanese method of reinforcing or patching textiles. It's traditionally white cotton thread on indigo dyed textiles, today the technique is commonly used on denim. Sashiko is also a dyeing technique where the thread is removed after dying (typically using indigo) leaving a delicate and intricate pattern.

Trend Board - Shibori

I know I've been a bit behind on my trend boards - with NeoCon approaching it's been busy! This board is a tribute to a lost love of mine - Shibori! I've been seeing it popping up left and right. Tie-dye's more sophisticated cousin, shibori honors traditional dying techniques.
